The Yamaha MM6 synth is a much “liter’ version of the motif with some sounds taken from it. With quality synth sounds and arpeggiator, it is perfect if you want to compose hip hop or Dance Music with most of the sounds taken directly from the Motif. Another aspect which is quite common with any yamaha synthesizer keyboard is it’s easy to use interface.

Yamaha MO6 synth is another option that you can consider, albeit expensive. This is more powerful and professional compared to the MM6. It has many pro features like enhanced editing features, much larger sound library, portamento, twice the polyphony and more things. The MM6, aka mini-mo is great for playing on-stage as it is compact. Other pro features that will be useful for studio use is its ability to easily interact with music recording tools like Cubase.

This review is not to say that one is superior and the other inferior. For the amount you pay, both provide you equivalent features. The MM6 has all the features that make it apt for live performances but the MO6 will be great in a studio. So lay your hands on either of these Yamaha synthesizer keyboard today.
