Average prices for Pianos?
I’ve been saving up for a Piano for a couple of years now and I want to know how much a piano costs.
I’m not looking for prices that skyrocket above a teenager’s budget, and I’m not really looking for a keyboard either. Instead I’ve been looking into baby-grands and upright pianos. My budget at the moment is $4,000, and I’ve been planning on trading in my current Upright Piano as well. I’m not sure how much mine is worth, my parents claim $2,000 (Branded as PETROF, not sure if thats a common brand*). Are there any websites or particular stores which have multiple locations (almost like a retail) that have pianos at a price under $10,000?
*extra note. what do you call a piano if it has a name like Steinway, Yamaha, etc. ? Brand? Because that sounds odd.
It’s impressive that as a teenager you have $4000 and plan to spend it on a piano. Petrof has a good reputation and should have value to any buyer who is familiar with it. Yes, “brand” can apply to any piano, regardless of the … well, brand.
You can find extensive information on both the pianos themselves and their pricing at:

Bear in mind the prices are very general and will vary considerably in the real world. There are countless retailers online nowadays but as you know every piano has its own personality so it’s advisable to select one you have actually seen and played. Shop at as many different local dealers as you can and when you are seriously considering a particular Instrument or two you may want to get some help with the final decision. Advice from a teacher and/or technician could be valuable.

Good luck!
