Should I get the Brother CS-6000i or the Singer Fashion Mate 7256?
My 4 year old Euro-Pro just isn’t cutting it anymore – it really hasn’t worked well for 3 of those years and parts fly off when I use it, lol. Also, it only has 10 built in stitches and it has been known to “eat” my projects… I am really wanting to get back into sewing and want a machine that won’t cause so many problems like my current machine. I learned to sew on a Brother in my high school apparel class, if that helps any. Here are the links to the two machines on Walmart’s web site:

If you have any other suggestions or advice that’d be great also! I’m really trying to not go over $200. Thanks!
News Alert – you will never use all those stitches.
I would choose the Brother – there are more features (not just decorative stitches).
The option to sew without using the food pedal and ability to drop the feed-dogs makes it easier to use for free-motion stitching.
Built-in thread cutter and self threading features are also good to have.
The Singer has the threader, but not the other options.
Just follow the instructions, step-by-step and test all those stitches. This will help you get comfortable with the machine.
If in doubt, check the return policies – Walmart does, dealers don’t.
