Mark Tucky lectures on the Intermediate stage of Drum Set Buying Part 1
Now that your skills have advanced to a higher level, now is a good time to move up the ladder to better equipment to advance you to the next level. At this stage your rudiments are solid, your groove is getting to feel great, your fills are in great time and your rolls are getting clean! At this level let’s keep the learning curve moving up. Before I get into equipment I would like to give some recommendation to a couple of books to help your studies to the next level .Now as you know there are many to choose here so I will keep my list short .In the next article I will get into the advanced drum set buying and advanced books to get into, but for now I will recommend these 2 books:
Advanced Concepts by Kim Plainfield
Complete Modern Drum set by Frank Briggs
Kim’s book is really nice because the grooves and fills are just awesome because he takes you from beginning reading to pretty advance stuff on the Polyryhymic Concepts side of things.
Frank’s book will not be an easy read as to the reading part of things, but if you can get the reading down here you are well on your way to way advanced playing.
These books will take some time and study on your part so put in the time to master these books and you will see a side of your playing that is short of amazing!

Pearl Vision Birch VBX 5-Piece Drum Kit

If you want to cut through the mix, these birch shells give you the cut and attack you need, while first –class hardware (including Tama’s Star-Cast mounting system and quality die-cast hoops) maximizes the sound and tonality of this kit .Tama equipped the Superstar Custom 5-Piece kit with cymbals and stands, so you’re on your way to great Drumming virtually out of the box! They also finished the shells with lacquer – a treatment you’d only expect to find on much more expensive kits.
