The reading on a metronome indicates the number of oscillations per minute. What are the period and frequency of the metronome’s vibration when the metronome is set at 160?

A frequency is just number of times per second so if the metranome was going back and forth 160 times in a minute then the frequency would just be:

f = 160/(60sec) = 2.66 Hz (a hertz, Hz, is # of times per second)

Period is just the time it takes for the metronome to go back and forth one time and is defined as:

T = 1/f = 1/2.66 = 0.376
