Are learning tabs for other songs a good way to practice Guitar?
I need a good reasonable answer. I heard many sides to this question like making up your own riffs, verses, solos, intros are the only way to Learn Guitar. Is that true, or are learning tabs the way to go?
Of course it is! Using other musician’s songs is great to practice different techniques and everything. If you can master it, you will also be able to impress other people who like the song.
Making up your own material is also a great way to practice. The thing about that is, though, you will have a hard time making up a tune that will be a good challenge for practice, if you don’t even know how to use any of the techniques required.
I suggest starting out with tutorials on how to do different things with your guitar and then use tabs and stuff to learn other people’s music, so that you become familiar with how to apply the techniques.
Try song writing when you are a bit more advanced.
