Why is hot water coming out of my cold water line in my kitchen sink?
When I come home from work and go to refill my dog’s water bowl with cold water from the kitchen sink, the water instantly comes out warm. The water then gets hotter before it gets colder. I have not timed to see how long it takes for it to actually get cold. This only happens in my kitchen faucet, no other faucet in the house does this. It has only started to happen over the past month or so. I have spepartate hot and cold shut off valves and they are not reversed under the sink. The hot water still comes out hot. What is going on?
Are the pipes to your kitchen exposed to the sun outdoors or something? Kind of like when a garden hose is left out on the lawn of your backyard with water still in it and it sits in the sun; when you go to turn it on, it comes out blaring hot? It is the summertime, you know…..
Either that or your intake valve to the hot water might not be shut all the way in the pipe (although youve turned it as far as it will go) and hot water constantly trickles in.
